The Bauchi State Ministry of Health, with support from United States Agency for International Development-Integrated Health Programme (USAID – IHP), is organising a 3-day workshop on child spacing costed implementation plan development and review.

The meeting is an initial step towards improving family planning services and  the development of the state child birth spacing costed implementation plan (CIP).

Child spacing has been identified as one of the more effective methods to help reduce maternal mortality rates as a solid strategy in the fight against poverty.

According to a statement by Nuru Yakubu Umar, DPRS State Ministry of Health, the maiden CIP was developed in 2018 which has expired in 2020 and need to be reviewed.

He added that although Marie Stopes Nigeria has supported the state with the first phase 2-day review meeting that served as a milestone on the review so far, which will provide direction to the state’s Child Spacing program.
