….Ooni of Ife and the priests sought for divine intervention for polls; Hon Famurewa and Engr Adereti the only politicians/candidates present
Ooni of Ife, HIM Eniitan Babatunde Ogunwusi “Ojaja 2” hosted new year special prayers by Ife Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at Afewonro Park, Enuwa Ile-ife this morning.
It’s an annual prayer session by the Christian body to usher in the new year especially to kickstart the new year with Divine call and 2023 edition took place today which started as early as 6am where hundreds of people participated.
Leading the participants at the new year prayers session, albeit everyone attended independently and voluntarily, hosted by Ooni of Ife, HIM Eniitan Babatunde Ogunwusi ‘Ojaja 2’, who was physically present, were all the Palace Chiefs and workers as well as dignitaries and eminent politicians.
Despite the fact that CAN informed the participants during the program that the body invited no less than twenty, 20, politicians and candidates contesting in the 2023 election for the prayers session because it is an election year but only the Osun East APC Senatorial Candidate Honourable Israel Ajibola Famurewa and the Ife Federal Constituency APC House of Representatives Candidate Engr. Benjamin Kayode Adereti who were present.
This year prayers is emphatic and centred on free, fair, credible, and violence-free polls in which responsible and God-fearing leaders shall emerge while High Chief Adekola Adeyeye, Lowa of Ife, charged the priests to intensify their prayers for Ile-ife to attain greatness developmentally and in all facets because the current status and level of development is below the great potentials of the ancient city.
However, Ooni of Ife donated three million Naira, #3,000,000.00, Honourable Famurewa donated Five hundred thousand Naira, #500,000.00 and Engr. Adereti donated two hundred and fifty thousand Naira, #250,000.00 to CAN towards the Ife CAN ecumenical centre project. Continue Reading
