The role of the youths in nation building and governance cannot be over emphasized as they are the pillars on which development is built given the youths’ strength of population and productivity.
The Osun East APC senatorial candidate, Engineer Israel Ajibola Famurewa stated this while playing host to an Osun youth group under the aegis of the Coalition of Past Ifeland Statesmen (CPIS) led by Musefiu Kolawole Afolabi that visited him to press home their demand for more efforts by stakeholders at increasing youths involvement in governance.
The youth group lamented that Nigerian youths are still under fixed in the scheme of things in the country and pressed for the need of every stakeholder to do more for youths.
The group bemoaned the ugly scenario that ended the #EndSARS movement of the youths in October 2020 and described it as barbaric.
The group however, commended Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola whose administration ensured there was no causality.
Responding, Famurewa said the present administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at federal and state levels have consistently displayed very serious sense of responsibility for youth inclusion in governance, saying that more youths would be involved in governance.
The nation’s red chamber candidate from Osun East recalled that his two terms in the House of Representatives, representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency benefitted the youths immensely.
He recapped his petition at the floor of the House against National Examination Council (NECO) that withheld the results for a private school in Osun and had the results released after his intervention just as his bursary for indigent students, skills acquisition for women and youths groups made beneficiaries financially stable.
The former boss at Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) said, if given the support by the people of Ife/Ijesa, he will sponsor and co-sponsor youth friendly bills and other bills that will favour the strata of the society.
