A governorship aspirant and philanthropist, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has promised a better future for the citizens of Ekiti State as they join other Nigerians in heralding the New Year on Wednesday.
In a message released on Monday, he urged the people to uphold the virtues of love and sharing that underscore the season.
In a statement he personally signed, Fayose lamented the developmental challenges in his home state of Ekiti and assured the people that hope is on the horizon. Fayose is seeking the 2026 ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governorship election in Ekiti.
In the statement, he called on Christians in the country to embrace the lessons and spirit of the season, which he described as fundamentally about service to humanity.
“I am using the opportunity of the Yuletide season to urge our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as all Nigerians—irrespective of tribe and religion—to imbibe the spirit of love and service to humanity.
“Just like Jesus Christ, who sacrificed Himself for mankind, we, as citizens of Nigeria, must always look out for one another with love and sacrifice in our collective efforts to make our country great in the comity of nations,” he stated.

He also addressed the contest for the governorship seat in Ekiti, lamenting what he perceived as the lack of a paradigm shift in governance over the years. Assuring the residents of the state of a better deal if elected governor, he noted that the “state has become an underachiever despite its numerous human and material resources.”
“Though successive administrations have tried, Ekiti is not where it ought to be. Mass poverty and infrastructure deficits have become the order of the day.
“Despite all these, I am calling on all sons and daughters of our dear state, as well as other residents, to remain hopeful for better days to come.
“While remaining hopeful, I equally urge them to reflect on where they will be casting their votes as we approach the 2026 governorship election.
“For me, the best assurance will be for all of us to make the right choice that guarantees…”
