The Director of Research and Innovation of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Grace Korter has called on the stakeholders and policymakers in the educational sector on the need for Statistical literacy at the Grassroots level.

The researcher speaking to journalists during press conference raised alarm on the consistently low number of applicants for statistical programs in tertiary institutions which is detrimental to the country’s need in terms of statistical literacy.

According to her, ” There were students who didn’t know statistics as a profession talk less of thinking about it as a course of study be it at the university or Polytechnic. One of the Principals of the selected schools, Mr. Gbenga Kolawole acknowledged the research contributions of Dr. Korter to the educational sector, he added that the research will boost the students’ interest in statistics. He further charged the researcher not to relent in her advocacy campaign on the need to include statistics in the school curriculum.
