Through the Ministry of Education, the federal government has appointed three new acting principal officers for the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

In a Tuesday release, the Polytechnic spokesperson, Kayode Adebusuyi, stated that the new principal officers would serve in acting capacities until substantive persons are appointed to the positions.

The appointees include Sunday Adeyemi-Adejolu as Acting Registrar, Mrs. Deborah Olotuah as Acting Bursar, and Dr. Mufutao Asiru as Acting Librarian.

The letter conveying their appointments noted, “The appointments have become necessary due to the absence of the Governing Council at this time and will terminate when the Governing Council appoints substantive officers.”

The statement explained that the appointments followed the expiration of the five-year tenure of Mrs Kehinde Ekanem as the Registrar and Mr. Kehinde Omodara as the Bursar.

It further stated, “Dr. Asiru, on his part, took over from Mrs. Margaret Abifarin, who has been in an acting capacity as the Polytechnic Librarian. The change in the baton of the Polytechnic Librarian is in accordance with the extant rules, which stipulate that a Principal Officer must not be in an acting capacity for more than six months.

“The new Acting Registrar, Mr. S.A. Adeyemi-Adejolu, joined the services of the Polytechnic as a Senior Assistant Registrar in November 2000 as its Public Relations Officer. He rose through the ranks, served on various Polytechnic Committees, and became the pioneer Director of the Directorate of Protocol, Information, and Public Relations.

Mr. Adeyemi-Adejolu, a 1987 graduate of the University of Lagos and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, served as the Polytechnic Spokesperson for about 23 years. He is happily married and blessed with children who are finding their feet in the spheres of life.

“Mrs. D.K. Olotuah, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), joined the services of the Polytechnic in 2006 as a Chief Accountant. Before her current appointment, Mrs. Olotuah was a non-statutory Director in charge of Finance and Fiscal Report in the Polytechnic Bursary.”
