The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 18th, and Monday, April 21st, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

This announcement, made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, is part of the government’s recognition of the Christian holiday that commemorates the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the government, extended his congratulations to Christians across the country, wishing them a joyous Easter celebration.

He underscored the significance of the holiday, urging Nigerians to reflect on the values of sacrifice, love, and redemption exemplified by Christ’s actions.

The minister also called on all Nigerians to use the holiday period for prayer, emphasising the need for national peace, unity, and stability.

He assured the public of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, a government initiative focused on fostering national development and unity.

In addition, the Minister encouraged citizens to express goodwill and compassion during the Easter period, stressing the importance of acts of kindness and generosity towards others.

This was a reminder of the spirit of Easter, where communities come together in solidarity and mutual respect.

“Furthermore, he encouraged Nigerians to extend love and goodwill to their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity.

The Minister wished all Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians,” the statement added.

“Let this season remind us all of the power of forgiveness, compassion, and the collective strength we have as a nation,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo further remarked.

He emphasised that Easter should serve as a time for Nigerians to unite in their commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous country.
