The Kano State Fire Service has reported that six people lost their lives in the month of April 2023 due to fire disasters, while properties worth N29,090,000 were destroyed.
However, the agency managed to save 64 people, and properties worth an estimated N73,195,000.
The agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
Abdullahi stated that the agency received emergency calls from its 27 fire stations across the state. In the month of April 2023, the agency received 83 fire calls, 45 rescue calls, and 39 false alarms.
He urged the public to be cautious in handling fire and to follow traffic laws to avoid road accidents.
“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid an inferno,” Abdullahi said.
“Furthermore, to abide by the traffic law to avoid road accidents.”
