Sen. Effiong Bob who is well known as a top contender for the 2023 governorship race is one who carries the footprints of a leader. From his days as a young lawmaker, his impacts were felt by his community and surrounding villages who saw the light of good governance through his humanness.
Bob had personally ensured the provision of transformers and subsequent electrification of 5 villages in his community, as well as the provision of boreholes in those places.
He had also facilitated the construction of motorable roads for easy access and thus, creating a linkage with neighboring villages and communities in his Local Government Area.
According to Mr. Udo Etuk, a stakeholder in Nsit Ubium and an indigene of Ikot Ekwere, the urbanization of the area is largely attributable to the Senator whose deeds of humanity was also experienced in the education sector.
“He has been able to bring in renovation jobs to schools in the community and neighboring communities.
Talking of roads, our community was cut off completely from Ubium South and Ubium North. But during his administration, he was able to facilitate the construction of motorable roads, including the construction of Nung Udoe/ Ikot Ubo road which is serving as a means of accessing Eket, Ibesikpo Asutan, Esit Eket, Oron and Ikot Abasi”, he said.
“He has achieved a lot for the community in the areas of water and electricity. There is nowhere in the community where there is no borehole. He personally ensured the provision of transformers where there was no electricity, not his village alone but the local government area in its entirety, even linking the LG to other areas”, the Stakeholder added.
These, including the employment of indigenes of the area into lucrative jobs positions in pronounced organizations are evidences of his acts of humanity to the society.
As a man of measured words, Effiong prefers to be seen more in action through his works and less through his speeches. This why he may be misunderstood at first encounter as self-effacing. But beneath this veneer of tight lips lies a brilliant mind who has worked diligently with his intellectual reserve of energy, focused on the upliftment of his community state and humanity at large.
