A former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Olumide Ojerinde, has handed over maternity and paediatric centre built in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area to the Oyo State government.

Speaking at the inauguration and handing over of the health facilities at Igboho General Hospital in local government area, Ojerinde said the gesture was not political.

Rather, he aimed to give back to the community as a show of love, care and commitment towards a better and brighter human development through an improved healthcare services.

“This will reduce the sufferings of our people due to insufficient or inadequate healthcare delivery services and shortage of facilities in the general hospital. We decided to build and equip the maternity centre to complement the good works of our governor, Seyi Makinde,” he said.

The former lawmaker also appreciated Governor Makinde for his unconditional love, encouragement and support, which he said had snowballed into the approval of the planned design for the centre in 2022.

“We are delighted to hand over the maternity and paediatric centre to the Oyo State Hospital Management Board as a gift to the General Hospital in Oorelope Local Government Area,” Ojerinde added.

He further said that the formal handing over of the centre is a milestone in the history of Oorelope Local Government Area due to its unique, unparalleled and unprecedented nature.

He, however, pledged a continued collaboration with the state government to promote the ideals for which the Olumide Ojerinde Foundation (OOF) was established.

In his remarks, chairman of Oyo State Hospitals Management Board (OYSHMB), Dr. Akin Fagbemi, who represented the state governor, applauded the former lawmaker for adding value to the people through the establishment of the maternity and paediatric centre.

Chairman of Oorelope Local Government Area, Jacob Ogundiran Olawale, extolled Hon. Ojerinde for the donation of the facilities and challenged other well-meaning individuals in the community to work together in love to develop the local government.

President of Ifelodun Omo Igboho, Aare Imran Badmos Oloyoyo, in his remarks described Ojerinde as a good leader with the love of the local government in his heart.

He charged all Ifelodun Oorelope indigenes home and abroad to continue to contribute to building of the local government area.

The Alepata of Igboholand, Oba Joel Olawuwo Olasorogan, praised Ojerinde for the gesture, attributing the donor’s deeds to godliness and inherited traits from his bloodline.

He challenged everyone to shun politics of bitterness, bring down syndrome and do the needful to write their names and that of their families in gold.
