TWO hundred students have graduated from the 11th edition of the one-year Qur’an camping memorisation programme of Muhasasa Al-Ihsan Charitable Endowment Foundation, Ibadan.

The programme was organised in collaboration with the Arabic Institute of Nigeria, Elekuro, also located within the Oyo State capital city.

Sixty-five of the graduands, whose ages ranged between 12 and 20, were orphans granted scholarship for the one-year memorisation programme.

The ceremony, held at Wesley College, Elekuro, was graced by members of Islamic organisations and scholars, parents and relatives of the graduands from across Nigeria.

The Director, Muhasasa Al-Ihsan Charitable Endowment Foundation, Dr Ahmad Abdus-Salam, congratulated the parents and graduands for being counted worthy of Allah’s blessings, describing the Qur’an as a God’s masterpiece which provides antidote to all socio-economic challenges.

Dr Olayiwola maintained that it was imperative for the graduands to have faith and fear of Allah, follow teachings of Prophet Muhammad and exhibit humility in the relationships with Allah and fellow humans.

“Memorisation of the noble Qur’an grants Muslims the most high place in paradise; it is a panacea to all social vices, hence the need for our students to exemplify its teachings in their life,” Olayiwola reiterated.

He also advised the graduating students to recite the Qur’an regularly to boost their memory of the holy book.

In their goodwill messages, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji AbdulGaniy Abubakar Agbotomokekere, represented by Dr Bari Adetunji, and Dr Abdulazeez Abdulbaqi from Iwo, Osun State, admonished the graduands to make piety their watchword and be good ambassadors of Islam anywhere they find themselves.

In a remark, the Asiwaju Adinni of Oyo State, Alhaji Mutiullah Oladejo, called on parents to monitor the social media usage of their children to prevent them from learning and imbibing un-Islamic tendencies.

The instructor of Qur’an memorisation of the foundation, Sheikh Abdulganiy Dada, said the graduands had been equipped with the knowledge of the Qur’an and Islam for improved spiritual life.

Two parents, Dr Zakariyya Abass, who is the founder of Zakariyya Institute of Qur’an Memorisation and Arabic Studies, Ibadan and Alhaja Hafsat Muibi, said memorisation of the Qur’an is indispensable for proper child upbringing in present time, urging other Muslim parents to avail their children the opportunity.

Some of the successful Qur’an memorisers, Waliu Olaleye, Firdaos Dada and Amatullah Yakubu, said memorisation of the Glorious Qur’an had given them spiritual rejuvenation and promised to reflect this in their day-to-day activities and relationship with the larger society.

Highlights of the programme were recitation of the Qur’an in pairs in different styles and intonations and presentation of certificates to the graduands.
