A humanitarian group, the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation, has expressed its readiness to rebuild the abandoned, uncompleted JOFIN Orphanage Home in Jos, Plateau State, and provide for the other needs of the children.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation (SUF), Mrs. Jovita Ibie, disclosed this on Saturday, stating that the orphanage will be given a facelift to make the children feel a sense of belonging and comfort.
She revealed that the facelift will include the completion of the uncompleted building and classrooms currently housing the orphans, the drilling of boreholes, and provisions for total healthcare, nutrition (daily feeding—breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and the educational needs of the children.

Ibie noted that the orphanage caught the attention of the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation during a routine visit.
She added that the poor state of the home, especially the well-being of the children, prompted the Foundation to take immediate action.
The CEO announced the commencement of the project, including the drilling of a borehole on the premises, and stated that this initiative would be replicated in five states across Nigeria, including Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Responding, the matron of the JOFIN Orphanage Home, Mrs. Chidiebere Onyeukwu, lamented how feeding and caring for the orphanage had become increasingly difficult due to the economic hardship in the country. She expressed gratitude for the Foundation’s assistance.
She further revealed that since Sunday, September 15th, 2024, the Foundation team had been providing meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—daily, along with medical attention for the orphans.
Chidiebere was also pleasantly surprised by the announcement to rebuild the home, classrooms, and provide all necessary facilities, modern teaching materials, furniture, fees, clothing, and food for the children.
Plateau State Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Caroline Panglang Dafar, represented by Astira N. Gotom, commended the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation for its humanitarian and developmental interventions in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Commissioner assured the Foundation of the state government’s support and urged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation in meeting the humanitarian needs of orphans, which have increased due to insurgency and banditry in the country.
It is noteworthy that the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation recently announced empowerment grants of N40 million to 80 small and medium-scale business owners across the country.
The grant ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos on October 5th, 2024, where each beneficiary will receive N500,000.
