Another letter seeking support for the royal wedding involving the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, and a princess from Kano State has surfaced online.
The new letter was signed by the Babalaje of Iwoland, Alhaji Kudaisi Ismail Toyin.
It came on the heels of the debunked viral letter which had been in circulation on social media purportedly from the palace of Oluwo of Iwoland seeking financial assistance for the wedding.
The Osun State Government had described the viral letter as a failed attempt by mischief makers to bring Oyetola and the Osun State Government into “a collision course with the citizens”.
However, according to Alhaji Kudaisi, the new letter was a surprise arrangement by Oluwo’s chiefs to honour him. He, however, said the monarch had no knowledge of it.
A copy of the letter dated February 7, 2022 and sighted Nationnewslead was titled ‘Notification of royal wedding of HRM, Oba, Dr. AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1, and a princess of Ado Bayero Dynasty’.
Part of the letter reads: “A few of the high chiefs of Iwoland have consequently mandated me to constitute a committee to plan and see to the success of the wedding with a befitting royal ceremony.
“At the inaugural meeting of the committee, we arrived at a modest tentative budget of N50 million to cover the traditional wedding, Tambaya (introduction); Kai Kaya (engagement) and Nikkai.
“The royal traditional wedding in Kano will be rounded up with a reception for the princess.”
