A statement by the Public Education Officer of the command, Basambo Olayinka Busari of RS8.1 Kwara State Sector Command, stated that the Kwara State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Mufutau Irekeola, has deployed personnel for traffic control at strategic locations within Ilorin township and major cities in the state during the festive period.

The Sector Commander admonished motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations throughout the Yuletide.

He also enjoined drivers to avoid dangerous driving and wrongful overtaking, excessive speeding, overloading, obstruction, use of phones while driving, operation of mechanically deficient and rickety vehicles/route violation, and driving with worn-out tires, among others.

“In order to ensure free flow of traffic and safe motoring before, during, and after the festivities, the command is fully engaged in public enlightenment campaigns/mega rallies in all interstate motor parks, early morning cries, markets, churches, and mosque advocacies, respectively, to sensitise the motoring public in Kwara State.

“The command is also carrying out Special Patrol Operations/traffic control to ease the free flow of traffic along the major roads.

“Available are 70-tonne heavy tow trucks, ambulances for rescue, and clearing of obstruction from the highways, while marshals have been stationed along major highways within the state.
