The Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said it will begin to enforce the possession of valid driver’s licence by motorists before the end of April.
This was said by the state Corps Commander, Joshua O. Adekanye, in a statement by the Chief Route Commander, Chijioke Inyama, on Wednesday.

According to Commander Adekanye, it was noticed that a lot of applicants for driver’s licence at the FRSC drivers licence centre across the state had failed to pick up their licences after their biometric capture and subsequent printing of the licences.
He said that about 3,116 licences had been left unclaimed across all centres in the State.
The commander noted that the National Driver’s Licence is a legal document that confers the right to drive on a person or empowers a particular individual to drive one or more vehicles in Nigeria.
“Regardless of what type of car you are driving, it is obligatory that you have a driver’s licence if you would ever drive on a Nigerian road.
“It is an offence to drive on a public road without a driver’s licence, and it attracts corporal punishment,” the statement read.
Adekanye thereby called on all driver’s licence applicants who were captured for biometrics in the last six months to approach the drivers’ licence centre in which they were captured to pick up their original driver’s licence before the commencement of ‘’Operation shows Your Drivers Licence” before the end of April.
