Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) has praised Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, for his remarkable efforts in supporting underprivileged students through scholarships.
Bichi’s contributions have enabled students to study both locally and internationally, with 21 postgraduate students receiving fully funded sponsorships to study engineering in Malaysia and over 5,000 Bichi indigenes benefiting from sponsorships at various Nigerian universities and colleges.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Armayau Hamisu, acknowledged Bichi’s service to humanity and the nation, leading to the award of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering during the university’s 9th convocation. Bichi has also facilitated several projects at the university, including the construction of three faculties, a library, a female hostel, and an auditorium.
In appreciation, the university named a 200-capacity auditorium after Bichi, which he commissioned during the event. Bichi expressed his commitment to continue working with his colleagues to prioritise the improvement of academic institutions, making them globally competitive.
The university has called on other lawmakers and well-to-do individuals to emulate Bichi’s gesture, contributing to the enhancement of education standards in society. Bichi’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he has been recognised for his legislative achievements and community development initiatives.
