The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, has admonished matriculating students to uphold discipline, integrity, and personal development as core values throughout their academic journey.
Speaking at the 37th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the university places high value on character and warned students against involvement in examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and other unacceptable behaviors as outlined in the Students’ Handbook.
“At FUT Minna, your academic journey will be one of growth, discovery, and transformation,” he stated.
Professor Kuta, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, delivered the address on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the university’s main campus in Gidan Kwano, Minna. He reiterated the importance of upholding integrity and complying with university regulations, noting that these values are essential not only for personal growth but also for academic and professional success.
Highlighting the university’s learning infrastructure, he said: “Our learning environment is enriched with state-of-the-art libraries, laboratories, workshops, and digital learning platforms, all designed to support your academic and professional development. I urge you to fully utilize these resources to enhance your learning experience.”

On issues of dress code and campus security, the Vice Chancellor reminded students to dress decently in accordance with university guidelines and to always carry and display their student ID cards while on campus. He stressed that campus security is a shared responsibility.
He urged students to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or object to the security unit without delay, adding that student welfare remains a top priority for the university.
“The University Health Services (UHS) is available to meet your medical needs—please avoid self-medication. We also encourage you to participate in sports and extracurricular activities as they contribute significantly to your physical health, teamwork, and leadership skills,” he added.
Professor Kuta also charged the students to pursue excellence, noting that it is the result of hard work, consistency, and discipline. “There are no shortcuts to success,” he stressed.
He concluded by commending the students for choosing FUT Minna, describing it as a bold and wise decision that sets the foundation for a bright future.
“I encourage you to make the most of your time here and strive to leave a legacy of excellence. Thank you for being part of this memorable event,” the VC said.
