To keep the Christmas festivities in high spirit, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP), governorship hopeful in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Godwill Richman on Wednesday hosted his political allies and supporters to a end of year get-to-gether where he splashed gifts on them.
The event which took place at the National Association of Small Scale Industrialists Multipurpose Hall, along Aka Nung Udoe Road, Uyo saw grassroots mobilisers, groups, and individuals converged at the venue to reaffirm their loyalty and commitment to the party man who is vying for the top job at the Hilltop Mansion.
Amongst the items distributed to the admiration of the supporters were bags of rice, assorted packets of soft drinks and others.
Dr. Richman who is one of the founding members of the PDP, revealed that Christmas is meant for sharing, and showing of love as well as appreciating for those around us.
He disclosed that he had determined in his heart to run for the governorship race come 2023, but that he was waiting for appropriate time to make it formal.
He commended the administration of Udom Emmanuel for his performance in spite of the current economic downturn/insecurity and pledged to continue from where the present administration will stop.
The Nsit Atai -born politician pledged to transform the State to modern Dubai by investing in human capital development, attracting international industries and foreign direct investments if elected.
He promised that his administration will work out modalities to remove the bottle neck facing the relocation of multinationals headquarters to their operational bases, Ibom Deep Seaport, Ibom Power Plant and Ibom Hotels.
Richman is a philanthropist, a property developer/manager. He is a multi – business mogul of international repute, and a political consultant in technology and security at both national and international spheres.
On the issue of direct primaries, he said he will abide by the decisions of the generality of the party stakeholders in the state.
The name Godwill Richman is a household name not only at the national but also at the international arena.
Earlier, Engr. Okon Etuk, the chairman on the occasion, in his remarks thanked God for the gift of Godwill Richman to the State and the grace to extend the kind gesture.
He lamented the present economic situation in Nigeria where people can no longer afford the basic things of life and thanked him for seeing the need to reach out to his people.
Etuk said what was required of the supporters was commitment, confidence and loyalty.
Goodwill messages also inundated the event from various groups and individuals.
The president of the New Mandate Uyo, Paul Usanga, in his goodwill message stated that ‘when you have a good product you can always sell it quick in the market.”
He vowed that his organisation will continue to stand by Dr. Richman until he succeeds.
Rev. Ubong Awak of the Ministers Prayer Network, thanked God for the gift of life upon Dr. Richman and prayed God that gave him the zeal to see him through.
He said when the righteous ascends the throne the people rejoice.
