Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has disclosed that his administration has since employed 260 health workers; among them, Pharmacists to ensure effective and efficient healthcare service delivery.
The Governor added that plans are underway to recruit another 200 Health Personnel to shore up manpower in the soon-to-be-completed hospitals in Kaltungo, Kumo and Bajoga.
He explained that the government has provided at least one functional health centre in each of the 114 political wards of the state.
The Governor added that in addition to the remodelling of the state specialist hospital, the government under his leadership is reinvigorating the general hospitals in Kaltungo and Bajoga while a new one is being constructed in Kumo to bring quality and affordable healthcare services to the people at the grassroots.
“For the want of time, these are just a few out of the numerous interventions the Gombe State Governor has provided and is still providing to guarantee the health of the people”.
On the industrial park which the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PCN described as a futuristic master class, the representative of the Governor said when completed, it will serve as a manufacturing hub with a positive effect on employment and the value chain.
Inuwa Yahaya then stressed that the provision of quality and affordable healthcare services to the people sits at the heart of his administration’s resolve towards attaining Universal Health Coverage.
The Governor stated this when he granted an audience to National Officials of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN led by its President Professor Cyril Usifor who are in the state to perfect arrangements for their forthcoming National Conference scheduled to hold in Gombe.
The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
Speaking earlier, the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Professor Cyril Usifor said that they were in the state for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) preparatory to their National Conference scheduled to hold sometime this month in Gombe.
He commended the administration of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for creating a business-friendly environment for potential investors to explore and make a fortune for themselves and the people of the state.
The PSN President described the Muhammadu Buhari industrial park as a revolutionary step taken by the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to bring social and economic prosperity to the people of the state.
He also said that given the available necessary condition for the Ease of Doing Business in the state, the society will be left with no other choice than to market the potential of the state to investors within and outside the country.
