Gombe command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has warned certain individuals and organizations that are operating private security outfits/guards without obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals as required by law to henceforth desist from such illegal operations.

The Command stated, “This is a direct violation of the Private Guard Companies Act Cap 367 (1990)
section 3 and subsection (b), (c), (d), i, ii NSCDC Act 2003 as amended 2007.”

SC Buhari Saad, Public Relations Officer of the State Command stated that the quoted sections mandate that all private security organizations must be duly registered and licensed by the Federal Government through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

“Unlicensed security operations pose a serious threat to public safety, as they lack the proper training, vetting, and regulatory oversight required to provide professional security services.

“In light of above, Gombe State Command of the NSCDC hereby issues a final warning to all illegal private security operators to cease operations immediately and comply with the licensing process,” he added.

The PRO stated that failure by the concerned agencies to do so will result in strict enforcement actions, including: Immediate closure of the illegal security outfits, arrest and prosecution of violators and confiscation of unauthorized security equipment.

“To regularise your operations, you are advised to visit the NSCDC Gombe State Command for proper guidance on the licensing process. The deadline for compliance is 14th February 2025 after which enforcement actions will commence.

“We urge all individuals and organizations to adhere strictly to this directive to avoid
legal consequences.”
