Benue Governor, Hyacinth Alia has presented N225.7 billion 2024 budget estimated to the State Assembly.
The governor disclosed this while presenting the estimate on Friday evening, stating that the budget has 25 percent increase over the 2023 budget.
The budget christened ‘Budget of Infrastructure, Development, Job Creation and Poverty Alleviation, the governor said it is in line with his blueprint,’ Benue Strategic Development Plan’ which when implemented, will lead to a prosperous Benue.
The budget has a proposed capital expenditure of 115 billion representing 61.6 percent and a capital expenditure of 110 billion while personnel cost is put at 54.6 billion representing 17.1 percent and non personnel cost or overhead cost is pegged at 54.8 billion which represents 10.3 percent.
The governor said the people of the state are desirous of accelerated growth which he promised his administration was desirous to deliver.
Alia added that there would be improved infrastructural development with emphasis on road construction, digitalised economy, massive youth employment, improved agricultural growth, Sports development, increased funding for all tertiary institutions in the state as well as improvement in health care service delivery.
According to the breakdown of the estimate, Education is 33,9b Health 33,9 billion 81, Agriculture 28,2 billion, Law & Justice 12,9 billion, Security 10,8 billion, Infrastructure 80,7billion, Social Welfare 7,8 billion and Commerce 4,2 billion.
