Gov Alia promises level playing ground for political parties

The ruling All Progressive Congress in Benue State has flagged off the local government election campaign with the governor, Hyacinth Alia promising to ensure free and fair election.

The local government election is slated for October 5, 2024 with eight political parties participating in the election.

Speaking at the flag off of the campaign held in Gboko on Wednesday, governor Alia promised a level playing ground for all the parties.

The governor represented by his deputy, Sam Ode urged party supporters to work hard and ensure that the APC candidates won all the positions in the coming polls.

He also handed over the party flags to the 23 APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies with a charge to work for their people,

Earlier in his welcome address, the APC caretaker committee chairman, Benjamin Omale said the committee had played a vital role in addressing the concerns of aggrieved aspirants, ensuring that every voice was heard and valued.

Omale said the committee’s efforts have been instrumental in fostering unity and understanding within the party.

He said the APC administration in the State was committed to delivering on their campaign promises.

He urged party supporters to come out en-mass on the 5th October, and vote for all candidates of the APC for better service delivery and for the general good of the people.

He further commended President Bola Tinubu, National Chairman APC and the working committee for their support in bringing peace to Benue APC and formation of the unity caretaker committee.

In his goodwill message, Sen Joseph Akaagerger said the entire people of Zone A were fully behind the governor and would return all the APC candidates on October 5th.

Also Barr Emmanuel Jime, while speaking for the people of Zone B said the masses elected Gov Alia and that was why he is working for them.

Barr Jime said the governor was only doing what the electorates asked him to do by executing people oriented projects and building human capacity.

He urged the local government chairmanship candidates to ensure that they replicate the governor’s mood of administration at the grassroots.

Speaking to journalists, Mr James Orgunga, APC State Organizing Secretary said the party fielded candidates in all the chairmanship and councillorship positions for the election.

Orgunga added that the party is fully prepared for the election.
