Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed the growing significance of social media in rapid information dissemination, emphasising its ability to surpass traditional media in reach and immediacy.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day training workshop for social media aides and influencers in Sokoto, Governor Aliyu—represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir—highlighted the need for continuous capacity building to ensure that social media handlers remain up-to-date with modern communication trends and technologies.

The workshop, organized by the Office of the Press Secretary to the Governor in collaboration with Image Media Limited, aims to equip participants with advanced digital communication skills to enhance government transparency and public engagement.
Governor Aliyu urged attendees to fully engage in the training, stressing that creativity, professionalism, and adaptability should guide their work in disseminating accurate and impactful information.
In his address, Alhaji Shu’aibu Mungadi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Image Media Limited, highlighted the crucial role of the media in sustaining democracy, describing it as the bridge between the government and the people.
He commended the Ahmed Aliyu administration for its governance efforts and underscored the importance of leveraging social media to effectively communicate government policies, programs, and achievements.
Managing Director of Image Media Limited, Alhaji Dahiru Hassan Kera, noted that the workshop was designed to empower and educate social media influencers on the latest digital media practices, with experienced academics and media professionals serving as facilitators.
The workshop reflects Sokoto State’s commitment to leveraging digital platforms for transparent governance, effective public engagement, and improved information management. By equipping social media handlers with cutting-edge communication skills, the state aims to strengthen its connection with the public while ensuring accurate and responsible digital reporting.
