Governor Ahmed Aliyu has sworn in the newly elected local government council chairmen on Monday, urging them to remain within their domains.

During the ceremony at the Government House, the governor warned the chairmen to always be accessible to their constituents, adding that the government would not tolerate inaccessibility, indolence, or laxity.

“Gone are those days when local government chairmen would abandon their domains for hotel rooms.

“Any local government chairman found flouting these directives will be dealt with severely,” he warned.

The governor further directed the newly sworn-in chairmen to hold regular meetings with relevant security outfits in their local government areas to address current security challenges.

“Remember that tackling security challenges is one our 9-point Smart Agenda, so give security all the desired attention,” he added.

Gov. Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to securing the state and called for sustained support and prayers from the public.

The governor appealed to the people of the state to continue offering fervent prayers for Allah’s guidance and protection for the current administration.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ibrahim Dadi Adare, assured that the ministry would organize an induction course for the newly sworn-in chairmen to familiarize them with the workings of local government councils.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by APC leader Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sokoto State Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly Tukur Bala, Deputy Speaker Kabir Ibrahim Kware, as well as lawmakers from the national and state assemblies.
