Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Thursday swore in five new permanent secretaries into the state civil service.

The new permanent secretaries include Hadiza Sahabi Jaredi, Maryam Ahmad Barade, Muhammad Idris, Abubakar S/Fada Tambuwal, as well as Muhammad Bello Ibrahim.

Speaking shortly after administering the oath of office, the governor charged them to inject fresh ideas that would make the civil service better.

He reminded the new appointees that their appointments were based on merit, coupled with their unblemished track records of service and immense wealth of experience.

“I expect you to bring all your experiences to bear in diligently and dispassionately discharging your responsibilities.

“Remember that this administration operates on a zero- tolerance level for corruption.

“Therefore, as the accounting officers of your respective places of work, you must ensure due process and ethical conduct at all times,” he charged.

Aliyu also called on the new permanent secretaries to make punctuality, dedication and commitment to duty be their watchwords.

He said, “This administration ensures the prompt payment of salaries.

“We also gave half salary and Sallah gifts to the state civil servants, local government and LGEA staff as well as pensioners across the state and also restored the monthly cash allocation to all the MDAs.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, therefore, the workers are expected to reciprocate these invaluable gestures by being more dedicated committed and punctual to work.”

Aliyu described civil servants as active players in the success of his administration’s nine-point smart agenda.

He further assured the workers of his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all their entitlements are promptly paid.
