At last, the Yungur kingdom regained its chiefdom status as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri presented the third-class staff of office to Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo to mark the return of the chiefdom.
At the historical event, Gov. Finitri urged the paramount ruler of the chiefdom to prioritize security, justice, equity, tolerance, and solidarity as he began a new vista in the Yungur land.
Fintiri, while highlighting his administration’s commitment to all-inclusive governance, noted that the creation of the Yungur Chiefdom, along with other Chiefdom and Emirates, was a step toward correcting historical imbalances.
“As a historian, I understand the history of our people, stressing that there was no justification for the Yungur people to be subjected to the traditional rule of anyone else. I am glad to have rectified this anomaly”.
He pledged to continue restoring dignity, improving living standards, and ensuring security for the people.
Additionally, the region’s vast resources, fertile land, and resilient population Should be harnessed to become an economic hub.
Governor Fintiri advised the people of the chiefdom to use the diversity within the chiefdom as assets and live harmoniously, as the government would take decisive action against any threats to unity and progress.
The new Gubo Yungur, Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo, in his acceptance speech, lauded Governor Fintiri’s courage and inclusive leadership, pledging to lead with justice, humility, and adherence to the law.
Walin Adamawa, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mbamba, representing the Lamido Adamawa, commended the Governor for his achievements and wished the Gubo a successful reign.
Speakers at the event praised the Governor for granting the Yungur people their long-sought chiefdom, expressing renewed loyalty and support for his administration.
