There was joy in Onipe and Aba otun community in Oluyole Local government area of Ibadan as Governor Seyi Makinde commissioned buildings and other facilities donated to Community Secondary School, Onipe and All saints Basic School Onipe, respectively.
The buildings were donated by a philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer, Makaya Farms and Homes, Olawale Opayinka.
Facilities donated by the philanthropist and business mogul include School hall, 8 blocks of toilet, Volleyball, basketball and badminton courts, 4 blocks of classrooms, a staff hall, playground, borehole amongst other facilities.
Meanwhile the philanthropist had earlier held 3rd annual Harvest ceremony of Makaya farms at the organisation’s premises in Aba otun, Ibadan before the commission of the facilities donated to the schools in the community.
In his remarks, Gov Makinde lauded the philanthropist for the gesture.
Makinde who was represented by the chairman, Oluyole Local government, Engineer Akeem Olatunji explained that the initiative by the philanthropist will help give support to the education sector of the state.
He however charged the management of the school on the proper management of the facilities.
Speaking , the chief executive officer, Makaya farms and Homes, Olawale Opayinka explained that the gesture is his contribution to the development of the Onipe and Aba otun community, a community where his organisation Makaya farm is situated.
He stated that the initiative is borne out of his love for providing a conducive environment for children of the community in a bid to make learning easy for the students.
According to him, his decision to establish the organisation at the community was in his contribution to the development of the community, Ibadan and Oyo state in general.
While he urged the students of the school to stay focus in their studies and as well use all facilities donated well.
Speaking on the harvest ceremony held earlier of the day, Opayinka noted that the event is an annual event, held in celebration of a successful harvest, held in honor of his staffs adding the annual event is also used in celebration of children .
He however urged all well meaning Nigerians to come home and give back to the society in other to bring more development to the country.
In his remarks, Baale of Onipe, Samuel Opaleye lauded Opayinka for the gesture , according to him the newly donated facilities will give aid to the education of children in the community and aswell bring more development to the community.
Also in their separate remark, the principal Community Secondary School, Onipe , Sandra Afolabi and Headmistress, All Saints Basic School, Victoria Adebowale both appreciated the philanthropist for the gesture while they pledged to maintain facilities donated by the philanthropist.
