Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has empowered 95 Ebonyi residents with One Hundred and Five Million Naira (₦105,000,000) to start businesses of their choice.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, received the funds after graduating from a two-month vocational training program organized by the state government.
The vocational training, held in Agbani, Enugu State, covered fishery, poultry, piggery farming, and business management skills.
Governor Nwifuru, through the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, disclosed this to journalists after receiving the trainees at the State Executive Chamber, New Government House Centenary City, Abakaliki, under the aegis of the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Empowerment Programme (FONEP) – the pilot batch.

He commended the trainees for their persistence and dedication, staying away from home for over two months to acquire vocational skills. He expressed satisfaction that the empowerment is directed towards beneficiaries who have been trained, ensuring that the funds will be used judiciously and purposefully.
The governor reminded the 95 beneficiaries that they would be monitored to ensure the proper use of the funds.
