Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has reaffirmed that the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, remains a staunch member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This statement comes in response to rumors circulating that the governor attended a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ meeting in Taraba.
However, the governor was merely attending the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Taraba State Governor, His Excellency, Agbu Kefas.
In respect of this, a press statement was issued on Saturday by the Commissioner and made available to newsmen in Lokoja.
It reads, “The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to a reckless and unprofessional media report suggesting that the Governor of the State was considering leaving the All Progressives Congress.

While we would have preferred to ignore this blatant falsehood, we owe the public the duty of providing correct and adequate information.
“The promoters of this falsehood are individuals who are still reeling from their woeful failure in the courts and are possibly attempting to find a backdoor into the All Progressives Congress.
As a result, they have resorted to their only tools: falsehood, propaganda, misinformation, and disinformation.
“The picture being circulated was taken at the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Taraba State Governor, His Excellency, Agbu Kefas.
The event was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, as well as Governors from various parties.
His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, attended the occasion to honor the daughter of a colleague, just as other Governors did.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo triumphed at the Supreme Court just yesterday with the support of his party.
It is unintelligent to insinuate that the Governor is abandoning the party that supported him throughout his electioneering and the subsequent litigations. Their web of lies is collapsing like a house of cards.
“We want to assure the good people of Kogi State that their Governor remains a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress and will continue to support the party’s success, not only in Kogi State but nationally.
We urge the people to rest assured that Kogi remains firmly aligned with the APC and will continue to support the laudable policies and progress being recorded by the President of our dear nation, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Indeed, Governors are united across party lines to support Mr. President’s efforts in uniting our nation.
“It is, however, pertinent to remind the media of its responsibility to the tenets of journalism. Journalists should always strive to avoid falsehoods and unfounded lies concocted by interested ‘sources.’
The media must continue to maintain our trust and confidence at all times.”
