Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has stated that his administration will not rely on consultants to manage the affairs of the state.
Governor Okpebholo made this statement on Tuesday while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of members of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Local Government Service Commission, Edo State Sports Commission, and newly appointed Permanent Secretaries.
The Governor pledged his administration’s full support to the newly sworn-in officials to ensure they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
He emphasized his commitment to transforming governance in the state, reiterating his campaign promise to improve the lives of the people of Edo.
According to the Governor, “We are here today in pursuit of a better society as we swear in members of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, the State Local Government Service Commission, the State Sports Commission, and Permanent Secretaries.
“It is clear that my administration is committed to making a significant difference in governance, as promised during my campaign to the good people of Edo State. We are determined to take up this challenge responsibly because things cannot remain the way they are.

“My administration is focused on raising the bar in governance, infrastructural development, and social services for our citizens. For the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Local Government Service Commission, and Sports Commission, we will provide all the necessary support for your success.
“To our new Permanent Secretaries, we will assist you in building a public service that embraces innovation. We will not allow consultants to perform your duties, and we will continue to offer our support.
“As you take on your new responsibilities, we will hold you accountable when and where necessary, particularly in translating our programmes and policies into reality.”
In response, the Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, Oladele Bankole-Balogun, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the trust placed in the newly sworn-in officials. He pledged their collaboration to ensure the success of the Okpebholo administration.
Other appointees include Damian Lawani as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele as Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, and Dr. Paul Ehienwerio, who was sworn in as a Permanent Secretary in the Edo State Civil Service, among others.
