Niger  State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has described the death of his father-in-law, Alhaji Muhammadu Egba Enagi, Sarkin Malami Nupe and Village Head of Diko as a colossal loss to him, Bida Emirate and the entire Niger State.

 

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, said it is indeed a sad moment for the family.

 

He noted that the deceased lived a selfless and impactful life worthy of emulation.

 

The Governor who recounted the immense contributions of his father-in-law to the growth and development of not only Bida Emirate but the State and Nigeria in general also acknowledged that his father-in-law was more of a father to him than an in-law.

 

He maintained that the death of Muhammadu Egba Enagi has no doubt created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

 

The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar and the Emirate Council, urging him to see the death of Sarkin Malami Nupe as an act of Allah and be comforted by the fact that he lived a fulfilling life.

 

While praying to Allah to forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannah Firdausi, he also prayed to Allah to comfort what had been affected by the demise of his father-in-law.

 

Late Alhaji Muhammadu Egba Enagi was born in January 1936 in Enagi, headquarters of Edati local government area of Niger State.

 

He had his early education in his country home Enagi and later proceeded to Bida Middle School, Okene Secondary School, Nigeria College Zaria and many other Educational Institutions from both within and outside the Country.

 

Late Muhammadu Egba Enagi worked as a School Teacher in Zaria, Sardauna Province, as a School Principal, an administrator per excellence, and Permanent Secretary and contested the Governorship Election under the platform of the Social Democratic Party in 1991.

 

He was also a member of many boards including the West Africa Examinations Council, Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the National Library boards as well as Chaired the Crude Oil Gas Monitoring Committee.

 

Late Muhammadu Egba Enagi is survived by Children including Senator Zainab Abdulkadir Kure, wife of the former Governor of Niger State, Hajiya Amina Jummai Gimba, General Muhammad Abba Diko, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, the First Lady of Niger State and many grandchildren.

 

The funeral prayer is slated for 2:00pm on Sunday in his country home Enagi, headquarters of Edati Local Government area of Niger State
