Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has extended the service period for the Head of Civil Service, several Permanent Secretaries, and Senior Civil Servants by two years, effective from December 31, 2024.
This extension was formalized in an Executive Order signed by the Governor in accordance with the doctrine of necessity.
The information was shared in a statement issued by Aliyu Yusuf, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Office of the Head of Civil Service, a copy of which was made available to the press on Monday in Kano.
The Governor’s decision is supported by provisions in sections 5 (2) and 208 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
The individuals benefiting from the two-year extension include Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, who will continue as the Head of Civil Service, along with Permanent Secretaries Umar Muhammad Jalo, Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Mu’azatu Isa Dutse, Abdulmuminu Musa, and Tijjani Muhammad Sharif. Additionally, Bashir Idris Diso has been extended in his role as the Clerk to the State House of Assembly.

It is worth noting that these civil servants, who are affected by this extension, are due to retire by December 31, 2024, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules and the Kano State Pension Trustees Fund Law.
The Executive Order states that the personnel whose service has been extended have demonstrated a high level of competence, excellence, and responsibility while carrying out their official duties, in line with the Civil Service Rules.
In addition, the Governor has granted the same two-year extension to several Senior Civil Servants, including Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Comrade Marwan Mustapha, Comrade Tajuddeen Bashir Baba, Comrade Hashim A. Sule, and Comrade Kabiru Inuwa.
Also included in this extension are health sector professionals: Amina Idris (Psychiatric Nurse), Ahmad Lawan (Peri-Operative Nurse), Hussaini Nuhu (Pediatric Nurse), Salisu H. Nadosun (Peri-Operative Nurse), and Larai Ahmadu (Critical Care Nurse).
The order directs that all beneficiaries of the service extension continue to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective offices in accordance with the Civil Service Rules.
