The Governing Council of First Technical University, Ibadan, has appointed Professor Adesola Ajayi as Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The council made this announcement in a statement made available to DAILY POST by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, Protem Council Chairman.
The statement added that Ajayi will succeed the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ayobami Salami.
Our correspondent gathered that the university is one of the tertiary educational institutions owned by Oyo State Government.
The university, which is located in Ibadan, was established during the tenure of the immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi.
Adeyemo in the statement made available to NNL on Monday, explained that the appointment of Ajayi followed the Council’s consideration of the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
She said that the meeting was held on Monday.
The appointment of Ajayi, according to her is for a single term of five years.
The appointment will take effect from 9th May, 2022.
It was assembled that Ajayi emerged after a rigorous exercise in accordance with the University’s establishment laws.
The new VC is the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university.
He obtained B.Agric. in Plant Science (First Class Honours) with the best overall result in the Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1991.
Ajayi hails from Igbojaye in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He also obtained from the same University the M.Phil. (Plant Science) degree with specialization in Plant Breeding/Seed Production in 1997. He bagged the Doctor of Agricultural Science (Dr. sc. agr.) degree in Seed Biology from Christian Albrecht University, Kiel, Germany in 2003. Continue Reading
