Governor Dapo Abiodun has described the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, as a shining light in Christendom.
Mr Abiodun stated this in his goodwill message to mark Mr Oyedepo’s 69th birthday.
In a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta by his chief press secretary, Lekan Adeniran, the governor described Mr Oyedepo as a great man of God and an educationist.
“Your teachings have transformed the lives of many and have shaped the destiny of our nation. As a preacher, you exemplify excellence and have been a source of inspiration to many,” stated the Ogun governor. “Your commitment to the spread of the gospel has not only brought salvation to countless souls, but it has also helped shape the moral fabric of our society.”
Mr Abiodun said through his involvement in the education sector, the man of God had succeeded in producing many scientists, bankers, lawyers, and administrators, among others.
The governor also commended Mr Oyedepo for his humanitarian efforts through the David Oyedepo Foundation, which provided thousands with scholarships and medical and entrepreneurial support.
“Once again, I wish you a happy 69th birthday, and I pray that God will grant you many more years in good health,” said Mr Abiodun.
Mr Oyedepo, who does not shy away from mixing preaching with politics on the pulpit, was embroiled in a controversial telephone call with Peter Obi, who was desperate for the support of the fiery clergyman in the build-up to the February 25 presidential election.
