The Concerned Lagos Youths, in collaboration with the Coalition of Lagos Indigenous Youths, has called for youth involvement in politics and crucial government issues stating that an accelerated inclusion of young people especially in policy review processes would bridge the gap between policy makers and youths.

The Spokesperson of the group, Ambassador Abiodun Ajayi made the call in Lagos stating that the Concerned Lagos Youths, in collaboration with the Coalition of Lagos Indigenous Youths, would continue to advocate for more youth involvement in governance at all levels.
While acknowledging the efforts of the federal and state governments in engaging young leaders, Ambassador Ajayi stated that the group believes that true inclusion should go beyond appointments, stating that it should be a system that actively allows young people to contribute to policymaking and governance.
He said,“Given the increasing number of young people in Nigeria, it is critical to acknowledge them as key drivers of progress. As a result, this press conference serves as a platform to amplify our voices, encourage young leaders, and appreciate those who have worked towards youth inclusion.
“As a group we are demanding for more youth representation in governance as we are committed to supporting young leaders who aspire to hold governance positions, ensuring that their voices are heard and they actively participate in key decision-making processes.
Also honouring leaders who encourage youth inclusion and given them the opportunities and the platform to participate in government.”
“One such leader is Mr. Seyi Tinubu, a beacon of hope for young Nigerians. His dedication to youth empowerment, grassroots engagement, and impactful initiatives has made him a role model for our generation.”
“There is no better time than now for all young people across the country to come together irrespective of their religion and tribe to rally around this wonderful soul, Mr. Seyi Tinubu. This is the first time in our history that a President’s son is this accessible and committed to elevating his generation.” he stated
Ambassador Ajayi, said the press conference was designed to address the prevailing gap in youth engagement within policy formulation, while applauding the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) Lagos State and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) for recognising the potential of young leaders and selecting vibrant individuals such as Dr. Muritala Seriki, the Lagos State APC Youth Leader, whose efforts have further enhanced youths involvement in governance.
He noted that the group is dedicated to helping capable young people with progressive ideas and a clear vision to establish sustainable growth in their communities,as they encourage others to follow the progressive leadership style of leaders like Hon. Kehinde Almoroof Kendoo, who has set a great example with his youth-friendly policies and has more than 80% of his cabinet made up of young people.
“As the Lagos Local Government Elections draw near, we are also using this opportunity to express our support for Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe Kosofe LGA, the Mayor of Ikosi Ishere LCDA, and other individuals who have excelled in their respective Councils. We encourage others to follow in this progressive leadership style.” he submitted.
Speaking Also, Hon Akinola Shasanya, who is the Co-Spokesperson, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for launching the much anticipated National Youth Conference (CONFAB), the first of its kind.
He added that the project is aimed to support the government in developing policies that would support the creation of sustainable models for youth by youth and further encourage youth participation in governance for the nation’s overall progress.
“Now is the moment to turn Renewed Hope into a reality. President Tinubu’s agenda was more than just a catchphrase; it was an exhortation to all young Nigerians to take charge, rise to the occasion, and change the nation’s government.”
“We want to express our gratitude to Pastor Ojelabi Cornelius, the chairman of the Lagos State APC Party, for his unwavering commitment to advancing the party’s ideology.
“However, we appeal his leadership to consider adequate youth inclusion in the upcoming Local Government as the youths are not only eligible to serve as supervisors and councillors, but also for the chairmanship seat.” he said.
The group urged competent youths to step forward and run for office in the forthcoming Lagos state local government & LCDA elections just as some individuals have shown interest, noting that the youths will keep breaking down barriers, redefining governance, and creating a better Nigeria for everybody if they are united, determined, and actively involved.
