THE Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has commended the achievements of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the national coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi and the national secretary, Dr Nasir Balogun, in which the MMWG congratulated Sultan Abubakar, who attained the age of 68 on August 24.
The group described the traditional ruler’s achievements since his enthronement as the Sultan of Sokoto as tremendous.
Some of the achievements, the MMWG observed, include strengthening of the unity of Nigerians across religious, politics and culture, promotion of religious tolerance, constant counselling of the nation’s political leaders on good governance and support for the underprivileged.
It described the leadership qualities of Sultan Abubakar, who is the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), as exemplary, pointing out that the Muslim leader had traversed the six geopolitical zones of the country preaching the message of peace, unity and development.
