Two domestic workers, a guard and a chef have been arrested by the police in Lagos State for allegedly stealing and selling their employer’s property, valued at over five million naira.

The unnamed employer, who resides in Ikeja, was reportedly overseas when the workers conspired to move his household items and other belongings.

The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in the Badagry and Ishashi areas of Lagos State.

RRS confirmed the arrests on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

The security unit reported, “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday arrested a chef and a security guard for allegedly stealing their boss’s property worth N5.5 million.

The suspects, Olusola Folorunsho, 24, a chef, and Rafiu Mutairu, 47, a security guard, were arrested in Badagry and Ishashi, respectively.

Both worked for the same employer at a popular estate in Ojodu, Ikeja, and in September 2024, they carted away and sold off the property while their boss was on a foreign trip.”

RRS also stated, “Items stolen included five split air conditioners, a chest freezer, a pumping machine, a fridge and freezer, one inverter, and jewelry, all valued at N5.5 million.”

According to the unit, “Investigations revealed that while Folorunsho moved the household items and personal effects from their boss’s residence, the security guard assisted by providing buyers for the items.

Further investigations showed that Folorunsho fled to Badagry after committing the crime, and efforts to retrieve the items from him were unsuccessful.”

Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye, has directed that the suspects be charged to court.
