The Hon. Lasun Yusuf political voyage’s close shave to his deputy speakership, House of Representatives is nothing of interestingness here, but his somewhat vicious cycle of frustrations to leave deep undesirable imprints on the psyche of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yusuf’s inanities, shroulded in rankness and decay in sequence at such a dizzying speed in the build up to when he recently made a formal declaration of intention to run for the state 2022 governorship have stoked his touch of gadfly, of course yes, thriving on absurdity and exasperation and slammed his rather diabolic, wicked castigation that the APC 2018 gubernatorial primary was rigged against him but in favour of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

The Osun APC Fire Prayer Fighters (FPF), with the writer as one, a leader, have been away now in a 31–day spiritual retreat at Ori- Oke Agbara, prayer mountain Omuaran, Kwara State, doing prayers and fasting to last into the new year, fast and furious at the name of Jesus Christ for the unity of the party and Oyetola’s landslide victory in the next governorship poll.

And as silence descended like a gentle mist one 1:54am, the Good Lord, Most High spoke in our midst once and once we heard him, in favour of a must win governorship for Oyetola, and the party unity; and then came far-out, in a cross fire, outlandish, a bang on my Android phone, the Yusuf news: “APC didn’t win the 2018 governorship primary which birthed the present administration in Osun.”

The news is still nauseating. If one would not quarrel with the news, then what else must one quarrel with at all? And even now as I write from the prayer mountain, the news is attracting fiery sequela, scathing reprisals, in the extreme anger; and in very rare instances, an intellectual storm such as this piece that offers correlative re-construction and elevated discourse in the foray. Come with me.

The news is Yusuf’s bewilderment, self-trampled, self-betrayed, self-hard edged and self-stampeded, not sure of his fabric, what party god to turn to next as he traded political insults and abuses and electoral scams and scandals with deliberate alacrity, alternated in succession but sinisterly by the shortest route in terms of sheer destruction of Oyetola, his predecessor in office, and the parity.

Meaning, Yusuf, with the debauchery of his familiar aggression, is one having no soul of his own. He shuttles back and forth, his expression, that of a man whose esteem has become low, so depressingly awry, so despondent, so forlorn, and so outrageously despaired by the political world around him with his political wheels turned seep – down culture of self-depravity, and his political life snuffed out that has now left him, clawing at straws either here or there, or simultaneously here and there, apparently frustrated in the undertow of electoral plot tidal wave against the run of Oyetola ahead of the governorship contest in the state.

I cannot say at what point Yusuf’s many political miscarriages began and dogged by the uncanny spirit in its virulence and malignancy, strangely against his APC in the state, mutilating, causing unfounded severe damages to the party’s discipline and electoral prowess, valour and skills, intent to perpetuate inciting one party god against the other, turning the party to dust and ashes, crumbling the party and finally to get the party massacred by his hatchet, a short-handled ax with a hammerhead, the touch of Jonah – the Yusuf odious doctrine of politics, but has failed him.

In the turbulence, jostling for power but blinded to its source, Yusuf has only gotten his pains and hardship intensified, his prestige and influence as erstwhile parliamentary deputy speaker, depressed with his internal peace and external integrity become expendable, and were loosely expended, marked by a soulless scramble for identity, an extremely dirty and unpleasant political status but found unsatisfactory to him going by the accounts of the current readings of him that also showed him a decrepit, made so by his self-contradictions. By the day.

Yusuf had long before now bled for identity or recognition. He reportedly begged Mr. Governor “who pleaded with APC Agba Osun to integrate him into the caucus and that happened, making him participate in the processes of the highest hierarchy of Osun APC politics, “ a report indented. Any mismatch here?

No, not one! Except Yusuf, not infrequently wearing his trademark thick, tangled beard, a vegetation of bristle of downy hair, coarsened, grained, matted on his cheeks, chin and mustache, is brazenly confrontational, the tribe of the bristly temperamental, showing aggression or anger at little or no provocation, often effrontery, and sure acting an appurtenant, accessories object attached to a principal property.

(To be continued)
