Nigerian singer and Executive Adviser on Entertainment to Delta State governor, Harrysong, extended heartfelt congratulations to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his election victory.
In a statement released to the media over the weekend, Harrysong expressed his satisfaction with the court’s decision, emphasizing that the victory reflects the preservation of the people’s freely given mandate to the governor.
The legal battle unfolded after Governor Oborevwori triumphed over the all Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, prompting a challenge at the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal regarding the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Harrysong, in his statement, highlighted the significance of the Supreme Court’s ruling, stating that it ensures the governor can now concentrate on his duties without the distraction of legal proceedings.
The singer believes that with the election dispute behind them, Governor Oborevwori is well-positioned to dedicate his efforts towards the betterment of Delta State.
He added that the upheld victory not only solidified the governor’s legitimacy but also reinforces the democratic process in the region.
The singer concluded his statement by expressing optimism that the governor’s leadership would contribute to the state’s progress, ultimately making Delta State a greater and more prosperous place for its residents.
