This is coming barely 12 years after he couldn’t get admission into a Nigerian university.
Ibrahim’s academic feat was disclosed in an X post by Mallam Mohammed Shuaib, who referred to him as his cousin, giving account of his impressive journey to Doctorate degree.
Shuaib recalled how he inquired about the private from the Nigerian High Commission in Delhi after seeing this advert in a newspaper.
“My cousin, Ibrahim, just finished his PhD defence in Sharda University, near Delhi India.
“In 2013, we couldn’t get him an admission into a University in Nigeria.
“While in India that year, I saw the advert of Sharada University in a newspaper. It is one of the biggest private universities in India.
“I spoke with someone at the Nigerian High Commission in Delhi to help us find out if Sharada admits Nigerian students. They said they do and they gave us their conditions. We fulfilled all of them & they admitted him,” Mallam Shuaib recalled.
Continuing, Mallam Shuaib explained that the scholar’s exceptional result — securing a first class — during first degree made the university grant him a 50% discount to do Master’s.
“1st degree, he made first class. They gave him 50% discount to do his Masters,” he said.
But Ibrahim didn’t stop, as he also made a first class for Master’s degree and again, another partial scholarship for PhD.
“Masters degree, he made a first class and they again gave him 50% discount on his fees for his PhD.
“Now he’s through with the PhD,” Mallam Shuaib added, questioning “Why’s there no 1st class for PhD nah?”
