Two men have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly robbing three commercial sex workers of their valuables, including high-end smartphones and cash.

The robbery occurred in the early hours of August 23, and the suspects have since confessed to the crime, with the police recovering stolen items and their operational vehicle.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.

According to Hundeyin, the robbery was reported by the victims early Wednesday morning, at approximately 2:20 a.m.

The women reported that they encountered the suspects while working on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Bode Thomas, Surulere.

The suspects purportedly picked up the victims and took them to a location where they forcibly demanded their valuables.

Hundeyin detailed the robbery, stating, “The victims were taken to where the suspects claimed they were lodging.

“Suddenly, the suspects stopped the vehicle and ordered them to surrender their valuables. In the process, they were robbed of two iPhones valued at ₦1.05 million, one REDMI Note 12 worth ₦140,000, and an iPhone SR valued at ₦240,000.

“Additionally, the suspects coerced the victims into transferring ₦25,000 to an Opay account and ₦8,000 to the same account.”

Following an investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime.

The police recovered a Toyota Camry with registration number APP335 JA, along with two blank number plates that were used during the robbery.

Additionally, one of the stolen phones, a REDMI Note 12, was recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects have been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin added.
