Grade A Customary Court, Oja Oba, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has adjourned till December 12, further hearing on a divorce suit brought before it by a cleric, Remi Adebiyi against his wife, Ranti Adebiyi, whom he accused of adultery.
He also stated that she was a talkative and in the habit of fighting him.
Remi added that Ranti did not have the fear of God and respect for ministerial work.
According to him, he had not had sex with her for 13 years out of the 30 years they have been married because he did not want her to kill him.
The plaintiff told the court that he left home four and a half years ago because he derived no joy in his marriage to the defendant.
Remi told the court Ranti was an evil wind that blew no one any good.
He, thus prayed the court to end their relationship so that he could move on with his life.
Ranti did not make an appearance in court after being served court summonses.
Remi in his testimony said: “I met my wife in 1993.
“She was into a relationship with two different men when I met her.
“I showed interest in her, and she agreed to also go into a relationship with me.
“We had sex on regular basis and she got pregnant for me.
“She moved into my house after she became pregnant.
“We held no wedding ceremony and I did not pay her bride price.
“My wife and I started having misunderstanding a few months into our marriage because she is a talkative.
“Ranti, contrary to what was expected of her as a pastor’s wife, talks a lot.
“She always told anyone who cared to listen about issues going on in our home and in my ministry.
“She divulged secrets of those who came to me for help in the church thus bringing about disaffection towards me.
“She was a clog in the wheel of my progress in my ministerial work.
“I reported her to our family members who mediated in our differences, but no definite change was seen in her.
“My wife is promiscuous and this is one of the reasons we fought almost all the time.
“My wife and I got married 30 years ago, but we last had sex 13 years ago.
“I caught her twice having sex with another pastor known to me.
“I stopped having sex with her after this so that she would not kill me as a result of her illicit lifestyle.
“I left home four and a half years ago because I did not want to die before my time.
“Ranti is presently living in my house and I want her out.
“My lord, I came to court to have our union officially dissolved.
“I do not want to stay a minute longer in marriage with my wife. She has brought me enough stress and shame.
“I earnestly appeal to this honourable court to rule that we both went our different ways.”
The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo, adjourned the case and ordered a fresh hearing notice to be issued and served the defendant.
