Nationnewslead reports that Governor, State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has commended the leadership of Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria, OSCAN, for their support over the years.
He said the leadership of OSCAN has always played critical roles in the security and general welfare of the people of Osun.
Governor Oyetola, disclosed this in Osogbo, on Thursday, at the year 2020 Christmas Carol, organized by the State Government, in collaboration with the State Christian Association of Nigeria.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Benedict Alabi, said Christian leaders like their Muslim counterparts always engage in spiritual interventions behind the scenes during the state’s good and challenging times.
He asserted that his administration would remain grateful to the body of Christ in Osun, for their spiritual and moral inputs in the affairs of the state, especially during the lockdown necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.
Describing the theme of this year’s Christmas Carol, ‘Good News of Great Joy’ as very apt, considering the challenges the state and the entire nation are facing in the outgoing year, Oyetola said the theme further rekindles the hope for a better tomorrow.
He said, “For a state hobbled by the lockdown of coronavirus pandemic for six months and could still able to deliver the dividends of good governance within less than half of the year, nothing can tell its story and express its gratitude than the theme of this year’s Carol, Good News of Great Joy.
“As a government birthed by Ilerioluwa (the promise of God), we are happy to identify with this theme and we are confident that the great news of the great joy of God will adorn our steps all the way”.
He, further enjoined the body of Christ to continue to support and cooperate with his government in its avowed commitment to serving the people of Osun with all talents and strength.
While congratulating the Christians in Osun on this year celebration of the birth of Christ, Oyetola enjoined them to continue to exemplify the lessons of salvation, love, unity, peace, good neighborliness and a heart for the poor, as epitomised by the life of Christ, so that his birth and purpose of human existence would be fulfilled.
He continued , “as Omoluabi people, we possess the natural tendency to exhibit the aforementioned virtues of Christ. I urge us to continue on this lane in obedience to Christ and as a way of sustaining our ranking of the most peaceful state in Nigeria and accomplishing our dream of delivering economic transformation and sustainable development”.
