The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over a protest they had against the February 25 election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku and Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the PDP, led other leaders of the Party to protest alleged irregularities that marred the conduct of the presidential election.
Information Nigeria had reported that the Party roundly rejected the results of the exercise which saw the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerge as the president-elect.
Wike, while addressing his constituents, mocked his party stating that it had become a ‘Labour Union’, adding that, he was drinking a 40-year-old whiskey when Atiku led protesters to the INEC headquarters in protest.

“What is in us is greater than what is in them,” the governor said in a mix of English and Pidgin language.
“As they were protesting, I just sat down and I took one 40-year-old whiskey. I called some of my friends ‘o boy, sit down. Make una sit down open 40 years.
“Then I put on television, see as dem dey do marching (Mimics). They have become labour union, they have become students union ‘all we are saying…’ chai. You are saying what? What are you saying?
“That you have taken over the role of students’ union, aluta continua. That is what the party has become, aluta continua.”
