Ido-Oko Ijesa Celebrates Development Strides with Multi-Million Naira Borehole, IPU Inauguration, and Anthem Launch

Ido-Oko Ijesa, a vibrant community in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, witnessed a momentous occasion as the ongoing Restoration of Grace 2025 week-long program reached its fifth day. The event was marked by the commissioning of a multi-million Naira borehole project by the esteemed monarch, Oba Michael Babatunde Adedeji, Adooko of Ido-Oko Ijesa.

The commissioning of the borehole project stands as a testament to the resilience, commitment, and unity of the people of Ido-Oko Ijesa. Made possible through the unwavering support of the community and its leadership, the project is set to significantly improve hygiene, sanitation, and public health within the locality.

Following this remarkable commissioning, Oba Michael Babatunde Adedeji also inaugurated the newly elected executives of the Ido-Oko Ijesa Progressive Union (IPU), led by the National President, Prince Ademola Adeyeye. Additionally, the community witnessed the launch of the remixed Ido-Oko anthem, spearheaded by the Chief Launcher, Pastor Nathaniel Adeyemi.

The Ido-Oko Progressive Union has long been the driving force behind community development, championing various initiatives aimed at fostering growth and preserving the town’s rich cultural heritage. Its efforts continue to attract resources and strengthen unity among indigenes.

Speaking at the event, the National President, Prince Ademola Adeyeye, emphasized the importance of supporting the leadership of Oba Adedeji, embracing IPU’s initiatives, and upholding the community’s cherished traditions. He described the “Restoration of Grace” theme as a movement dedicated to rebuilding and propelling Ido-Oko Ijesa to greater heights.

Guest speaker Mr. Dele Ajayi of Unique FM Ilesa delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the significance of unity, love, and harmony. He urged the people to foster peace and cooperation, stressing that meaningful achievements are only possible in an atmosphere of tranquility and mutual respect.

The commissioning, inauguration, and anthem launch attracted a host of distinguished dignitaries. Among them were His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Babatunde Adeyemi Adedeji Adujelewu III, Olori Elizabeth Adenike Adedeji, Rev. Canon Femi Ariyo, Hon. Dosu Komolafe, Chief Sunday Ogundipe, High Chief Femi Aluko, Mr. Dele Ajayi, Chief Mrs. Bunmi Ariyo, Chief Cornelius Agbogungboro, and Rev. Canon Johnson Agboola, among others.

During their acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated National Executive Council, led by Prince Ademola Adeyeye, expressed their gratitude to Oba Adedeji and the entire community, both home and abroad, for their trust. They pledged unwavering commitment and assured the people of their dedication to fulfilling their mandate.

Prince Ademola Adeyeye, in his first official address as National President of IPU, outlined plans to identify and unite the community’s students across tertiary institutions under the Federation of Ido-Oko Ijesa Students Union (FIISU). He also called for deliberations to select the chairman for the upcoming Ido-Oko Ijesa Day 2025, scheduled for November 15th.

The launch of the remixed Ido-Oko anthem saw generous financial contributions from notable individuals. Oba Michael Babatunde Adedeji donated ₦50,000, Prince Ademola Adeyeye contributed ₦100,000, while Overseer Mabayoje Daramola and Ajiroba Sajiku Family donated ₦50,000 and ₦50,000, respectively. Other key contributors included Hon. Dosu Komolafe, Chief Cornelius Agbogungboro, Chartered Toba Komolafe, Prince Adekusibe Adeyeye, Mr. Timothy Areola, High Chief Femi Aluko, Chief Sunday Ogundipe Mr. Yanju, Loriomo, Ajiroba Sajiku Family, Mr. Ropo Ogundipe, Iyaloja Mummy G.O, Babaloja, Ajifolokun Adenipekun Family, Mr. Ishola Kunle, Mrs. Aluko Funmilola, Mrs. Obaleye, Mr. Adelowo Komolafe, Mr. Gabriel Ogah and several prominent community members.

Expressing his appreciation, Oba Babatunde Adedeji lauded the sons and daughters of Ido-Oko Ijesa for their continuous support, which played a significant role in making the event a success. He also acknowledged the presence of invited guests, stating that their participation reflected solidarity and unity.

The monarch reiterated his commitment to the development of Ido-Oko Ijesa, urging all indigenes to remain steadfast in their collective efforts towards progress and transformation.

As part of the Restoration of Grace 2025 celebrations, the organizing committee announced a lineup of events for the following day. These include the laying of the foundation for the Ido-Oko Ijesa Palace at 10:00 AM at Palace Square and the investiture of the St. Phillips Anglican Church Ido-Oko Ijesa Council of Chiefs at 11:00 AM.

Community members expressed their excitement and gratitude for the new developments, with many describing the initiatives as a milestone in Ido-Oko Ijesa’s journey toward sustainable progress.

The Restoration of Grace 2025 program continues to reinforce a renewed sense of purpose and determination among the people, ensuring that the legacy of Ido-Oko Ijesa remains vibrant for generations to come.
