The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, launched the distribution of cheques to provide insurance benefits to the next-of-kin of officers who have lost their lives or suffered permanent disabilities in the line of duty.
The total amount of cheques presented to 68 families of deceased officers and injured or disabled personnel, covered under the Group Life Assurance 2022/2023 Policy Year, is N535,618,788.44.
The IGP emphasized the value of human life and expressed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to prioritize the well-being of its officers and personnel.
He assured that the obligation of providing insurance and other benefits to police personnel would be fulfilled promptly.
The aim is to create a supportive environment where every officer feels valued, protected, and motivated to give their best in service to the nation.
Furthermore, the IGP received a contribution of N70,000,000.00 from Anchor Insurance Company Limited.
The funds will be used for the rebuilding of the Kano State Command Headquarters, which suffered extensive damage from a fire incident in January this year.
The financial support will help restore the command’s infrastructure, enhance its operational capabilities, and ensure efficient policing services for the residents of Kano State.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed deep gratitude to the dedicated officers of the Nigeria Police Force for their unwavering commitment, sacrifice, and loyalty to upholding justice and security.
He acknowledged that their loss and injuries leave an irreplaceable void but affirmed that their legacies will forever be remembered and cherished.
