Nationnewslead report that It was a drama of shame and total rejection for the People’s Democratic Party in Ijebu-Jesa on Thursday, February 23, 2023 as the party staged a show of confusion and frustration in its move to stop the ground finale campaign of Barr. Seun Odofin and APC ahead of the February 25, 2023 General Elections.
Recalled PDP held its Campaign in Ijebu-Jesa on Tuesday, February 21 which had Osun State Governor, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke in attendance but against party expectations; the people of Ijebu-Jesa shunned the Campaign in protest against irresponsiveness and various attacks orchestrated by hoodlums of the present representative of Ijesa North Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Hon. Wole Oke which had many people of the town sustaining severe injuries.
The aftermath rejection and disgrace which slammed the party in the face at its Oriade Local Government Ground Finale Campaign, led to emergency arrangements of another Campaign in the town slated for Thursday, February 23 which is a day fixed and approved for APC Ground Finale Campaign in Ijebu-Jesa.
Suspecting the heinous move of PDP to organize another Campaign, APC raised a security alarm and security meeting was held with all stakeholders in attendance where it was resolved that PDP should holds its Campaign between 7:00am to 11:am and APC to holds its Campaign from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
Still displeased with another empty Campaign and rejection by Ijebu-Jesa people, PDP refused to vacate the Campaign venue till 2:00pm an action which prompted APC leaders to expressed disappointment in the security meeting agreement and decided to visit the Campaign venue alongside security agents.
Sighting the candidate of APC in the House of Representatives election for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Barr. Seun Odofin and his mammoth crowd, PDP became jittery and vowed not to vacate the Campaign venue for APC. He took the intervention of security agencies on ground before they agreed to leave by 3:00pm.
Speaking at the Campaign, Dr. Desmond Ojumu urged the people of Ijebu-Jesa to vote en masse for All APC candidates,; Barr. Seun Odofin, Hon. Israel Famurewa and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Ijesa North Representative, Osun East Senator and Nigeria President respectively come Saturday, February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
Addressing the crowd at the Campaign, Barr. Seun Odofin appreciated party leaders, supporters across the constituency and the good people of Ijebu-Jesa for their unalloyed supports and endurance in the face of provocation by the hoodlums of People’s Democratic Party of Hon. Wole Oke, with a promise that he would be a responsive representative the people would be proud of.
Hon. Seun Odofin also thanked Dr. Desmond Ojumu for attending the Campaign against speculations by the People’s Democratic Party members that there’s misunderstanding between the duo and that the latter is concluding his defection plan into PDP.
He described PDP in Ijebu-Jesa and Ijesa North Federal Constituency by extension as a party of hooligans as portrayed in their characters. He said as a man of peace, law abiding citizen and true lover of the people, he resisted PDP thugs provocation to set the constituency especially Ijebu-Jesa on fire even with the destruction of his Billboards and Campaign Office in the broad daylight by known PDP thugs.
Barr. Seun Odofin urged his supporters not to nurse any fear but to go out and exercise their franchise on Saturday as government has deployed adequate security agents to protect them.
Also speaking at the event are APC leaders in Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Baba Komolafe (JMK) High Chief (Dr) Gabriel Emiola Ogunsanya (Baba Feg Agro) and others. They all assured the people of Ijebu-Jesa and Ijesa North Federal Constituency of a good representation in the person of Barr. Seun Odofin.
The party leaders later paid a courtesy visit to Barr. Seun Odofin residence in Ijebu-Jesa where prayers were offered again for his victory at poll.
