Barrister Abiodun Aribisala, Founder and CEO of the Aribisala Care Foundation, an internationally renowned tax consultant, and a prominent leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijesa North and Osun State, has shared his views on the legislative performance of Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke. Hon. Oke recently emerged as one of the top 10 bill sponsors in the House of Representatives.

In a statement released by his media team, Aribisala stressed that the core responsibility of lawmakers extends beyond merely sponsoring bills it involves ensuring that these bills successfully pass through the legislative process to become law. He questioned the significance of Hon. Oke’s achievement, noting that despite representing Ijesa North Federal Constituency for two decades, none of the bills he sponsored have been enacted into law.

“There is nothing to celebrate about being among the top 10 bill sponsors if none of the bills have made it to the final stage and become law,” Aribisala remarked. “Sponsoring 21 bills in the 10th Assembly, only to have them stuck in the legislative pipeline, is a waste of time and a disservice to the people of Ijesa North. They deserve more.”

Aribisala’s critique highlights the importance of legislative effectiveness, not just activity, urging Hon. Oke to ensure that his efforts yield tangible benefits for the people he represents.

Barrister Abiodun Aribisala further challenged Hon. Wole Oke to ensure that his legislative work goes beyond surface-level bill sponsorship. He encouraged him to work diligently to push the bills through the legislative stages necessary to become law. According to Aribisala, the people of Ijesa North should experience the impact of Hon. Oke’s representation through meaningful legislative outcomes that improve their lives, rather than through statistical accomplishments alone.

He emphasized that Oke’s long tenure in the National Assembly should have translated into significant development for the constituency, but that this has yet to happen. “Representation is about service and delivering on the mandate given by the people. It’s high time Hon. Wole Oke put in the effort to make a tangible difference,” Aribisala said, reminding the lawmaker of the hopes and expectations that the people of Ijesa North have placed on his leadership.

Aribisala also called for increased accountability, transparency, and focus in Hon. Oke’s legislative approach. He noted that while sponsoring bills is commendable, it is meaningless without legislative success. “The essence of lawmaking is to create frameworks that improve governance and directly impact citizens’ welfare. Bills stuck in the system without progress are as good as non-existent,” he asserted.

Furthermore, Aribisala stressed that the people of Ijesa North deserve better leadership and representation. He urged Hon. Wole Oke to fulfill the mandate entrusted to him by delivering more impactful legislation and developmental initiatives that would address the pressing needs of his constituents. Aribisala also expressed his readiness to collaborate with other leaders in the community to hold the lawmaker accountable for his promises.

Aribisala reiterated that Ijesa North deserves leaders who are not only active in legislative processes but also effective in securing meaningful results. He called on Hon. Wole Oke to rise to the occasion, reminding him that true leadership is measured by the positive changes it brings to the lives of the people not by the number of bills stalled in the legislative pipeline.
