In response to the passing of Oba (Dr.) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, PhD, CFR, the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland and the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, a curfew has been imposed in Ilesa. The curfew will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly for the next seven days, starting tonight.
Residents are urged to comply with the curfew hours to maintain peace and order during this period of mourning for the revered traditional leader.
The announcement was made by the Ijesa North Traditional Council, which expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Oba Aromolaran II, who was known for his unwavering dedication to the progress and development of Ijesaland. The council emphasized that the curfew is a necessary measure to ensure public safety and honor the late monarch’s legacy of peace.
Security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and local vigilante groups, have been directed to enforce the curfew strictly. They have assured residents of their commitment to maintaining order and protecting lives and properties throughout the mourning period. Essential services such as healthcare and emergency responders will remain accessible, though movement is expected to be limited during curfew hours.
