An Area Court at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, has granted custody of the four children in the family to Olomu Ajibola, their mother, to enable her take proper care of them.

The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, while ruling said nobody had the right to deny a mother access to her children, even if the father was legally granted custody.

Ajumonbi, therefore, granted custody of the four children to their mother, since the father did not have any evidence to prove otherwise.

The court stated that the father, however, had unrestricted access to their children and should be responsible for their feeding, school fees, medicals and general welfare.

“The parents should never take the children out of the jurisdiction of the court, except on mutual agreement of the parents,” the judge said.

He, however, said that the mother shall cease to have custody the moment she re-marries.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the husband had on April 16 applied for divorce and custody of their children, with the wife agreeing to this.

But he had not been allowed to see their children since then.
